Dock Spiders Finish the Season with a Win

FOND DU LAC, WI – The Fond du Lac Dock Spiders defeated the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters, 10-4, in the season finale at Herr-Baker Field. The win ended the Dock Spiders season at 36-35 and continued their streak of finishing above .500 in every year of the franchise’s existence (since 2017).

Connor McKenna (Illinois-Springfield) got the start for the Dock Spiders, threw two perfect innings, and struck out three. Trey Seeley (Cypress) then entered the game and tossed a season-high five innings to earn the win. Over his final three appearances, Seeley allowed two earned runs in 9.2 innings.

The Dock Spiders offense got to work in the third inning with a sacrifice fly from Kemp Alderman (Ole Miss) that scored Chad Herrera (Viterbo) and gave the Dock Spiders a 1-0 lead. In the fifth inning, the Dock Spiders sent 11 batters to the plate and took a commanding lead. They scored five runs, including a two-RBI single from Brady Katterhagen (UW-Platteville), a bases-loaded walk, and an error.

With the lead at 6-0, the Rafters scored one in the sixth off Seeley with an RBI triple from Colin Tuft (Virginia) to make it. A sacrifice fly from Chris Conifff (Wagner) brought home another to make it 6-2.

The Dock Spiders scored three more in the seventh off an RBI single from Herrera, his third hit of the night, and an error to increase the lead to 9-2. They scored their final run of the night in the eighth when Katterhagen drove in Sawyer Smith (St. Cloud State) with a single to make it 10-4.

Seeley (1-3) earned the win while Brandon Scott (1-1, Hillsdale) took the loss for the Rafters.

With the win, the Dock Spiders finished the season with the third-best overall record in the Great Lakes West Division. The Dock Spiders also drew 1,684 fans, which marked the fifth straight game with over 1,000 fans at Herr-Baker Field to end the season.
