Dodge Co. Sheriff Warning of Scammers Posing as Sheriff’s Office

The Dodge County Sheriff’s Office is asking residents of
their county to be aware of scammers that are posing as someone with the sheriff’s
office. According to a press release, the sheriff’s office has received reports
that a caller has been telling a victim that there is a warrant for their
arrest and that they need to report to the Dodge County Jail to pay a bond. The
number used in the scam call is 920-386-3320, which the sheriff’s office says
is not a valid number for their agency. Dodge County Sheriff Dale Schmidt says
if you have a question about the validity of a phone call to hang up and call
the sheriff’s office or your local police department with a phone number
published on a phone book or on an official website. Schmidt also advises
anyone who may have been victimized by this scam and paid money to scammers to call
920-386-3726 and report it to a deputy.
