Dodge County Crash Takes The Life Of 17-Year Old Driver

On Tuesday, January 5, 2021 at approximately 9:01am, the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office responded to a motor vehicle crash on STH 73 approximately 2/10 mile north of CTH D in the Township of Calamus, Dodge County.

Initial investigation shows that a Chevrolet Impala was traveling south on STH 73 and was negotiating a left hand curve. A 2016 Kenworth (straight truck) was traveling north on STH 73 and was negotiating the curve to the right.  The Chevrolet went into a counter clockwise spin, traveling over the center roadway line and into the northbound traffic lane where the two vehicles collided. 

The 17 year old driver (sole occupant) of the Chevrolet was transported to UW Hospital in Madison but was pronounced deceased a short time later.  The driver (sole occupant) of the Kenworth was not injured in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation by the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office and the Dodge County Medical Examiner.  The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Wisconsin State Patrol, Columbus Fire Department, DCERT, LifeStar and Randolph EMS.  STH 73 was closed for approximately 4 hours as the scene was being cleared and the crash was being investigated.
