Dodge County Law Enforcement Explorer Post Awards

On Monday, January 12, 2015 the Dodge County Law Enforcement Explorer Post held its 8th Annual Award night.  Explorers were recognized for their community service hours to the community.  Explorers were also recognized for performance at the National Exploring Conference in Bloomington, Indiana this past July where they placed in the top 10% nationwide in a Shoot/Don’t Shoot Competition in which they were placed in several scenarios to determine how to best resolve the situation using the most minimal force required. There were also awards given for Explorer and Rookie of the Year.

The Rookie of the Year is identified as the Explorer who went above and beyond in their first year of service to the community.  Several factors go into the decision including initiative, attendance, and overall participation.  This year’s recipient joined us early this past summer and has already been promoted to the rank of Sergeant.  This year’s Rookie of the Year is Easton Meier of Beaver Dam. The Explorer of the Year has always been the Explorer who has shown the most overall dedication to the Explorer Post.  This person has always been a leader within the organization and has gone above and beyond what is asked of them.  This year’s recipient has been integral in preparation for the National Team including organizing training events and fundraising to pay for the trip.  This year’s Explorer of the Year is Megan Falkinham of Beaver Dam. Both our Explorer and Rookie of the Year were presented with a Certificate, a Plaque, and their names were placed on the Plaque which is displayed in the lobby of the Sheriff’s Office.  The Explorer of the Year will also receive a $200 Scholarship.  Congratulations to both Easton and Megan and we look forward to their continued service to the Community.
