Dodge Sheriff Turns Tables On IRS Scammers

Dodge County Sheriff Dale Schmidt turned the tables on IRS scammers this week calling back the number they left him in an automated call. The first person who answered was a woman who answered IRS, but got curt with him and hung up when he started asking questions. On a second try the Sheriff got a surprisingly honest and up-to-a-point helpful man who answered.  Schmidt identified himself as a Sheriff and asked if it was the IRS he called and the man said no it was a scam. Further questioning revealed the man was at a call center in Afghanistan. The Sheriff then asked the man why he was doing this the man said it was his job and admitted they were stealing money from people before hanging up. Schmidt says the real IRS will not call you if you owe them money.
