A Tuesday afternoon fire near downtown Fond du Lac caused extensive damage to a single family home. The cause of the fire has been ruled as arson.

Fond du Lac Fire/Rescue crews were called out Tuesday December 7, 2021 at 3:12 p.m. for reports of a fire in the 300 block of N. Macy St.

Crews arrived to find smoke coming from the attic and heavy fire conditions on the first floor of the single family residence.  The fire was quickly extinguished but not before it caused extensive damage to the home.  The home was occupied at the time and the lone resident was able to escape without injury.
