Downtown FDL Home To “Sturgeon Spectacular” This Week

It’s a weekend built around perfect combinations…such as Winter and really big fish. Winter is doing its part, bringing super cold temps and a heavy base of snow. And if the early reports hold up, the really big fish should start rolling in Saturday morning just after sunrise. The Annual Sturgeon Spectacular officially runs this Friday-Sunday, and according to event coordinator Peter Wilke, folks are plenty stoked to enjoy the event. “People are excited. It’s been a long-time coming. People want to be out, seeing things, and we have a great opportunity for people to be outside and really, get out of the house.”

Festival attendees will be able to take in the first ever Sturgeon Olympics, Amateur Snow Sculpting Competition, Downtown Curling Funspiel, along with snow & ice sculptures.  Wilke said the festival is going to great lengths to ensure a safe environment for everyone. “We’ve learned a lot over the last year. It’s been about a year since we’ve heard of COVID and we’ve learned a lot more about it. We know what kind of mitigating things we can do to make sure people feel safe.” You can find complete details at www.fdlfest.com or www.sturgeonspectacular.com
