Downtown FDL Project gets $90,000 boost

A vacant building turned into upscale tavern and residential lofts has received a $90,000 state grant. The grant will allow the the City of Fond du Lac to assist in redeveloping the commercial building into a mixed-use development.

The building, located at 18 E. Division Street, features an existing asphalt parking lot that will also be redeveloped into a new outdoor dining area for the tavern. The developer of the project, Sam Meyer, said he intends to use the history of the building as he continues the renovation. The building was originally constructed in 1880 and was a livery stable.

Meyer has successfully completed several other historical restoration projects in downtown Fond du Lac including the State Farm Insurance and Red Brick Inn building, the German-American Savings Bank building and the Art Districts Loft building.
