Dr. Koppaka From CDC Tells KFIZ Now Is The Time To Get Flu Shot

The start of October means one step closer to the start of the flu season, and with the COVID-19 pandemic still going on in our country, health experts say it’s especially important to get the flu vaccine this year. Dr. Ram Koppaka with the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention tells KFIZ News getting the flu vaccine means your protecting yourself and those around you from getting sick.

“To reduce the likelihood that an individual will seek medical care and thereby save those precious medical resources so they can be directed to the fight against COVID-19, so we’re really strongly encouraging all individuals 6 months of age and older to get their flu vaccine.”

Experts say there’s no “bad” time to get the flu vaccine, but recommend getting it this month before peak flu season hits. For more information visit www.CDC.gov/flu.
