Driver Arrested After High Speed Pursuit In Winnebago County

A pursuit in Winnebago County reached speeds of 120 mph this morning.

Shortly after 4 AM, Winnebago County Sheriff’s deputies were chasing a white SUV east bound from Omro on State Highway 21.

The vehicle entered the Oshkosh City limits still driving at an excessive speed and drove over the roundabout at 21 and Washburn Street.

After almost striking a vehicle in the roundabout over 41, the vehicle turned north on 41.

Damaged from the roundabout, the vehicle pulled over on 41 and the driver fled on foot.

Multiple officers from Winnebago County, Oshkosh Police Department and Wisconsin State Patrol converged on the area to search for the vehicles lone occupant.

About 10 minutes later he was found on the Heritage Walking Trail that parallels 41 to the east.

After a short foot pursuit, the man was caught.

No other details were known at this time. KFIZ will have more information on the chase as it is released from the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Department.
