Driver From Dump Truck Chase Waives Preliminary Hearing

The 34-year-old Randolph man suspected of leading authorities in Dodge County on a drunken driving chase in a dump truck is heading to trial. Theodore Tamminga waived his preliminary hearing Thursday on charges stemming from last week’s chase on County Highway G. Initially deputies were responding to reports of a domestic incident, but Tamminga left the scene in a dump truck. At one point, the dump truck dropped a substantial amount of gravel and dirt on Highway G in front of a squad car. The deputy was able to navigate through the debris which covered both lanes of traffic for approximately 50 yards. Tamminga was eventually taken into custody after driving the dump truck into a field and getting stuck. He will be arraigned on May 9th.
