Driving Sober Not The Case

The recent “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” enforcement effort may have worked to well in Fond du Lac County. The Sheriff’s Office and six different police department participated in the effort from August 18th to September 4th. Police Departments participating in the effort included Fond du Lac, North Fond du Lac, Oakfield, Rosendale, Brandon-Fairwater, and Town of Ripon. The aim is to discourage drunk drivers from getting behind the wheel, but Sheriff’s Captain Ryan Waldschmidt says that certainly didn’t happen. Twenty-two people were arrested for drunken driving, there were 14 seat belt violations, 257 speeding violations, and 70 were cited for operating after revocation or suspension. In addition there were 2 misdemeanor arrests and two people were arrested on warrants.
