Drunk Driver Receives 25 Years In Prison

A man convicted in the 2019 drunk driving death of a Milwaukee police officer is sentenced to 25 years in prison.

Dante James was drunk behind the wheel when he ran a red light and crashed into a car driven by Officer Kou Her, who was driving home after finishing his shift.

Investigators said James had been drinking all day and was fired from his job for being drunk at work hours before the crash.

Her was one of two off-duty Wisconsin police officers killed in separate incidents the night of June 17-18.

Hours before the crash that killed him, Racine Officer John Hetland was shot and killed when he intervened in an armed robbery. His killer is serving a life sentence.
