Early Friday Morning Pursuit Ends In Arrest

A check on a suspicious parked vehicle turns into 13-mile chase. A FDL County Sheriff’s Deputy observed a vehicle parked at the dead end of Hawes Ct. and CTH D in the Town of Fond du Lac Friday April 30th, 2021 just before 1:50 a.m. The vehicle had no license plates displayed and no temporary vehicle tags.

Once the operator of the vehicle saw the deputy, he took off onto Hwy. D where a traffic stop attempt was made by the deputy. The vehicle continued at a high rate of speed southbound on USH 151, with Waupun PD using spike strips near 151 and Hwy 26.  A subsequent mechanical issue ended up halting the suspect near Hwy 49.

The operator, a 40-year old Waupun male who was the lone occupant of the vehicle, was taken into custody without incident and faces at least 4 charges on top of the 3 outstanding warrants he already had. The chase covered nearly 13 miles with no injuries or damages reported. Assisting the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office was the Waupun Police Department, Wisconsin State Patrol, and Dodge County Sheriff’s Office.

The driver is in custody in the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office Jail facing charges of Operating After Revocation, Resisting/Obstructing an Officer, Bail Jumping and Knowingly Flee an Officer.  The male subject additionally had 3 outstanding warrants for his arrest. The warrants were for Contempt of Court for fail to pay family offense, felony bail jumping, attempting to flee or elude, and misdemeanor retail theft.
