Early Morning ATV Accident Injures One In FDL County

Two females were injured when the ATV they were operating early Saturday morning rolled over. The Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office received a call just before 4:00 a.m. to Safari Ln. located in the Town of Taycheedah, for a report of an ATV crash. Deputies arrived on the scene and found that one of the females was injured, but was able to walk. The other female was unable to get up.

Witnesses said the two females had been driving around on the ATV in the neighborhood,  and were attempting to negotiate a curve when the ATV rolled over. Neither rider was wearing any type of protective gear. The operator was taken to ThedaCare Regional Medical Center by ThedaStar helicopter with serious injuries. Alcohol appears to be a factor in the cause of the crash. The operator of the ATV was identified as a 28-year old woman from Fond du Lac, who suffered a head injury.

She’s been charged with operating an ATV while under the influence of an intoxicant-causing injury, operating an ATV in a careless manner, and operating an ATV without an ATV safety certificate. The passenger was identified as a 36-year old female, also from Fond du Lac. The Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office is continuing to investigate violations of Governor Evers’ Emergency Order #12 – Safer at Home Order. Assisting on scene were Mount Calvary Ambulance, Calumet FD, City of Fond du Lac Ambulance, and ThedaStar helicopter.
