Early Morning Barn Fire Considered Total Loss

Multiple agencies responded to an early Sunday(1/9/2022) morning barn fire in Fond du Lac County, near Lamartine.

A Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s deputy was on routine patrol Sunday morning when he discovered a structure fire at 1:23a.m. Upon further investigation, he found that a barn was fully engulfed by fire at N5387 Townline Rd. in the Town of Fond du Lac. A residence at this location, was occupied but the fire never threatened the residence and had minimal threat to other unoccupied structures.  

The property is owned by Doris Morgan with the residence being a rental property. The barn and all its contents were destroyed by the fire. No one was injured during the fire and the fire is not considered suspicious. While it remains under investigation, the cause of the fire appears to have been some type of electrical malfunction.

Assistance at the scene was provided by area Fire Departments including Town of Fond du Lac, Oakfield, Eldorado, Lamartine, Van Dyne, Waupun Country Fire, City of Fond du Lac along with Fond du Lac and Oakfield First Responders.
