Early Morning Chase Results In Illinois Man Arrested

The Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office was involved in an early Sunday morning vehicle chase. Deputies attempted a traffic stop on a vehicle for a speeding violation Sunday January 10, 2021 at approximately 1:46 a.m.. The attempted stop occurred on Hwy 26 at Olden Rd. in the Town of Rosendale. Once the traffic stop was attempted, the suspect vehicle took off at a high rate of speed southbound on Hwy 26. Tire deflation devices were used successfully on Hwy 26 as well as on southbound Hwy 151.

The vehicle tires began to come apart while it continued southbound on Hwy 151 into Dodge County, exiting at Hwy 26 south. As the vehicle approached the end of the off-ramp, it entered the ditch and crashed. Two passengers remained with the vehicle while the driver fled on foot but was apprehended a short time later. Assisting in the pursuit were the Waupun Police Department, along with their K9 Unit, and Wisconsin State Patrol. The pursuit reached speeds of 109 MPH and covered a distance of approximately 19.5 miles.

The driver was identified as a 25-year-old male from Illinois. He is being charged with OWI 1st offense, felony fleeing, possession of marijuana-repeater,  speeding, and passing in a no passing zone. The two passengers were identified as two 27-year-old males from Illinois and are both being charged with possession of marijuana.

There were no injuries as a result of the pursuit. One road sign was damaged as a result of the crash.
