Early Morning Fire Damages Waupun Home

Waupun firefighters responded to an early morning fire on Monday to find small flames burning on the stove top of a McKinley Street home. Crews believe the fire started well before it was noticed, and likely used most of the available oxygen before going out on its own. They were on scene for about two hours before clearing the scene.

The homeowner found the fire when he returned to find the home full of smoke. The entire home sustained significant smoke damage, and the kitchen area sustained some fire damage as well. No people were hurt, but a dog in the home died due to injuries suffered in the fire. The cause of the fire and damage estimates have not been determined.
