Even As Hospitalizations Decline, Shortage Of Staff In WI Still Critical

Wisconsin Department of Health Services Secretary designee Andrea Palm says many hospitals remain very strained, due to COVID-19 

“34 percent of hospitals in our state report a current critical staffing shortage, and 40 percent project that they will have a critical staffing shortage within a week.” 

Over 15,000 tests results were reported on Friday, with a 32% positivity rate, resulting in over 4,800 positive tests. Wisconsin reached a milestone on Friday, topping 404,000 positive cases reported since March. DHS also saw another drop in total hospitalizations, with 1,660 people hospitalized across the state due to the coronavirus, 371 of them in ICU.
