Evers Claims “Great Success” In Unemployment Benefits Being Delivered

With thousands of Wisconsin residents still waiting for a first unemployment check, and thousands more claims on hold due to inadequate staffing levels, Governor Tony Evers insists his administration is doing its best. “It’s not a fool-proof system. We are adding more people and we’re doing the best we can. We’re have great success.”

On Thursday, Republican state Representative John Nygren, who co-chairs the legislature’s finance committee, said the Department of Workforce Development needs to “find ways to speed up the claims process and less time making excuses.” In a letter to the governor, Nygren said “the buck stops” with Evers.
