Evers Likely to Appoint New State Superintendent

Governor-elect Tony Evers will likely be appointing his replacement as state schools superintendent. Evers will not resign his post until he’s officially sworn in on January 7th, blocking outgoing Governor Scott Walker from appointing someone to fill that vacancy.
Evers could either appoint a replacement or call for a special election to fill the post – but he reportedly plans to make an appointment, saying he doesn’t see an “overwhelming need” for a special election.
Evers adds that there’s “all sorts of people” he will consider for the job – after being asked if he would consider Republican state senator Luther Olsen for the position.
