Evers Says His Plan Does Not Include Shutting Down Schools In Fall

Governor Tony Evers continues to push back against claims that he’s going to shut down the entire school system over the continued rise of COVID-19 cases. Evers says he doesn’t have a count of how many school districts are turning to virtual teaching this fall.

“I would say just my observation that handful of the larger districts are going virtual only but the vast majority of the school districts in the state are not large and they’re looking at all sorts of different options.”

A number of Republican legislators are insisting that Evers has plans to close the schools through his public health emergency order.
