Evers Signs Bill Making Wisconsin’s Hemp Program Permanent

Governor Tony Evers signed a bill into law Tuesday making Wisconsin’s
hemp-growing program permanent, while bringing it into line with new federal
regulations.

The bill is designed to help the state’s popular hemp
program continue to grow as it enters its second year. The law also aligns the
program with requirements set on a federal level under the 2018 Farm Bill,
while also allowing the state to retain control.

Hemp and Marijuana are both forms of cannabis, but hemp
lacks enough of the active ingredient, THC, to get people high.
