Evers To Spend $50 Million To Reduce Violence In Wisconsin

Governor Tony Evers is spending 50 million dollars in federal stimulus funding in order to help reduce violence in the state. Calling it a public health issue much like COVID-19, Evers says more needs to be done to prevent violence before it starts.

“We want to build a Wisconsin that works for everyone. That means communities where families not only have the support and the resources to be successful but that future where our kids and our families can be healthy and safe.”

Much of that funding is going to Milwaukee where a rash of violence has plagued the city since the start of the pandemic. Funding will be used to clear a case backlog to both resolve crimes, but also move people currently being held on bail out of the county jail.
