Extreme Cold Hampered Town Of Ashford Firefighting Effort

Extremely cold temperatures made it difficult for firefighters trying to put out a house fire in the Town of Ashford Sunday morning. Fire trucks froze up and a westerly wind on top of that hill pushed the fire through the home. The home at W2949 Woodland Drive belonging to John Bischoff and Heather Meyer was completely destroyed. They and their pets were able to flee the home safely. Bischoff was later treated for smoke inhalation at St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac. Campbellsport Fire Chief Craig Olson says 13 fire departments battled the blaze and the extra help was needed given the extreme cold. Five crews were on the scene for over five hours. The Red Cross is helping the family. The Curve In Bar at N192 Highway 45 in Kewaskum is accepting clothing donations for John and Heather. There is also a Go Fund Me page to help them out.
