Fatal Accident Caused By Fleeing Driver In Sheboygan County

A fatal accident in Sheboygan County was the result of a driver trying to flee from the law. The Wisconsin State Patrol says a deputy was trying to catch up with a vehicle speeding northbound north of Belgium on I-43 just after 6:30 p.m. That vehicle lost control, crossed the medium, and crashed into a semi traveling southbound, causing the semi to catch fire. The impact of the accident killed the driver of the vehicle, while the semi driver was not injured. The State Patrol says they found that the vehicle was reported stolen from St. Francis, and found inside was drug paraphernalia, marijuana, and a loaded handgun. Parts of I-43 were closed to traffic for up to ten hours overnight as clean up and an investigation continued.
