Fatal Accidents For FDL County Tops Last Years Total

With a deadly accident near North Fond du Lac last weekend the number of people killed in traffic accidents in Fond du Lac County this year is 11 more than all of last year. Sheriff’s Captain Rick Olig says that’s the highest number since 2012 this decade when there were 22. He says for almost the past nine years the number of traffic deaths each year has been 10. The latest fatal accident in the County was Saturday night on Highway 45, which claimed the life of 34-year-old Joshua Stuhr of Oshkosh. Olig says the State Patrol is still investigating, but excess speed and alcohol appear to be factors in that accident. Olig says the fatal accidents this year have been spread out on roads and highways throughout the County and with various factors. He says enforcement efforts including one for Highway 23 east do have an impact on driving habits. The 11 fatal accidents matches the County’s five-year average for 2010 through 2014.
