Fatal Punch Suspect Refuses to Appear in Court

A man accused of punching a man and causing his death five
days later – refused to appear in court for his preliminary hearing on Monday.
34-year old Christopher Barry faces one count of aggravated battery for
allegedly hitting Steven Mallas in the face outside of an Oshkosh bar earlier this month.

Mallas
reportedly died from injuries caused by that punch to his jaw.

 According to
court records, Barry is in custody but refused to go to court – so the
scheduled preliminary hearing was not held. A status conference has been set
for Thursday.
