FBI Warns of Plans for Nationwide “Armed Protests” Ahead Of, During Inauguration

The FBI is warning of plans for armed protests at all 50 state capitals and in Washington D.C. leading up to the inauguration of President-elect Joe Biden next week.

The warning comes just days after last week’s deadly siege at the U.S. Capitol. An internal bulletin from the FBI warned that, as of Sunday, the nationwide protests may start later this week and extend through the January 20th inauguration.

Two law enforcement officials speaking on the condition of anonymity provided details of the memo to the Associated Press.

As the FBI releases their warning, windows at the Wisconsin State Capitol are being boarded up as a precautionary measure.

Media reports say crews were seen putting boards up over the capitol’s ground-level windows on Monday morning. The Department of Administration called the move a “proactive precautionary measure” that is happening at statehouses across the country.

The Wisconsin National Guard has also been activated to “support safety and security efforts” at the Capitol in Madison.
