FDL Applying For Grant To Replace Trees Damaged By EAB

The Fond du Lac City Council approved a resolution this week that will allow the City to apply for a $12,000 grant to replace trees destroyed or threatened by the Emerald Ash Borer. Public Works Director Jordan Skiff says they are taking down more trees with the spread of the Emerald Ash Borer, but this grant will allow them to replace some of those trees as well. The City does have to provide a 25 percent match, which will bring the total cost for planting 57 trees to $16,196. Skiff expects the EAB to do most of the damage to Ash trees in the City over the next couple of years. He says most of the Ash trees that will die in terraces and parks will die over the next two to three years. The new trees will be planted this fall.
