FDL Boys Survive Swim In Swollen Creek

Three Fond du Lac boys are lucky after they decided to take a swim in De Neveu Creek near Winnebago Lutheran Academy Monday night. Water was rushing through the creek and the current was strong due to the heavy rains over the weekend. Fond du Lac Fire Department officials say a passerby saw the boys and called 911. The boys traveled about two blocks downstream and were able to make it to a bank where they were rescued by Fond du Lac firefighters. The boys were 12, 14 and 15-years-old. Fire Department officials say the boys were fortunate that even the most experienced swimmer can have problems in rushing waters with unknown currents and debris traveling downstream.
