FDL City Council Approves Purchase Of Land For Training Site

The Fond du Lac City Council Wednesday night approved the purchase of 25 acres of land for a Public Safety Training Center. Community Development Director Dyann Benson told the Council that last year one of the potential sites would have cost the City $1.5 million. So City staff started a new search and found a site off North Rolling Meadows Drive that will cost $250,000, but is suitable for the Police and Fire Chiefs needs for a training center. The Council also approved an annexation request from the County for a site for a future highway garage. It is located south of Highway 151 between Scott Road and Hickory Street. The site will give the County access to City water and other services. The Council also approved a rezoning request for that property to fit its future use.
