FDL City Leaders Using Summer Months to Discuss Next Year’s City Budget

City leaders in Fond du Lac are using the summer months to
look ahead to the 2020 city budget. City Manager Joe Moore explains that when
it comes to crafting the next year’s budget – they aren’t looking to make major
changes from year-to-year, but rather to make improvements and figure out ways
to conserve money. “We work through that in the wintertime, and then in June of
every year, I explain to the City Council what I think the next year’s budget
is going to look like,” Moore said. “I talk to the City Council about any
things that seem to be especially difficult or unusual – and that happens from time
to time.” Moore says the process includes seeing what the state’s two-year
budget includes for municipalities, which he says did not change much with the
budget Governor Evers signed last week.

The City Council is also hearing budget presentations from
different city departments as part of the process. Fond du Lac Fire and Rescue
presented at Wednesday’s meeting, with other departments set to discuss their
budget in front of the council at following meetings.
