FDL City Manager on One Year Since the Start of the Pandemic

The world is now past the one-year mark since the start of the pandemic, and we continue to hear from local leaders as they reflect on how the challenges of the last year have impacted our area.

Fond du Lac City Manager Joe Moore tells KFIZ News as the pandemic began last March, one of his first tasks was to make sure all of the 300-plus city employees were safe from harm.

“We were making decisions about whether or not to have people come to work and do their duty,” Moore said. “For example, whether or not they should go to people’s houses to tend to their water meters – or how we were going to interact with people in terms of our paramedics, our firefighters, our police officers, who come into really close contact with people. At the front edge (of the pandemic), I was really thinking about them as human beings and keeping them safe.”

Moore says despite all of the challenges and uncertainty of the past year, there has been a lot of resilience by the community to make it through, and he believes things are on the right track as we go further into 2021.
