FDL County Board Approves Development Agreement For UW-FDL Student Housing

An effort to change a proposed lease from $1 an acre to $1,000 an acre for student housing at the UW-Fond du Lac failed by a slim margin during the Fond du Lac County Board meeting Tuesday night. Supervisors voted 13 to 10 against the motion then approved a development agreement with Bluffstone II LLC to construct and run the housing. Kelly Young of Bluffstone says the UW-Fond du Lac already has a lot to offer its students and this would be one more option. UW-Fond du Lac Dean John Short says he understands why supervisors did what they tried to being responsible for the interests of County residents. Supervisors approved the development agreement with the Bettendorf, Iowa based company to build a 3 story building with 84 beds. The vote was 20-3. Next month the Board will be asked to approve the lease agreement and concept for the project. Photo of previous Bluffstone student housing project.
