FDL County Board Asks State To Consider Biking Access For Hwy 67

Fond du Lac County Board last evening unanimously approved a resolution asking the state’s Department of Transportation to install bike accommodations on Highway 67 from the Village of Campbellsport to Dundee. County Highway Commissioner Tom Janke says the state plans to improve the highway and the request would ask the DOT to consider widening the shoulders on the 5 ½ mile stretch of Highway 67 to accommodate bicyclists and pedestrians. Campbellsport Village Board President Patrick Twohig told supervisors he sees a lot biking enthusiasts on a regular basis since improvements were made to the Eisenbahn Trail and the improvements would create more traffic in the Village. Board Chairman Marty Farrell told board members that Green Lake County officials wanted something similar from the state when the state announced upcoming improvements to Highway 23 from Ripon to Green Lake. Farrell said Green Lake County officials waited too long to get their request in so time does factor into such requests. The County Board approved the resolution on a 22 to nothing vote.
