FDL County Board Asks State To Continue Expansion Of Hwy 23

In the grand scheme of things it may have little impact, but the Fond du Lac County Board Tuesday night passed a resolution asking the state’s Transportation Department to continue its efforts to expand Highway 23 between Fond du Lac and Plymouth to four lanes. It’s bogged down by a federal lawsuit and funding. Fond du Lac County Supervisor Dean Will says he’s lost family on that stretch of highway. The former County Sheriff’s Captain has a different perspective than most; he’s worked fatal accidents on the highway. He says the group that filed the federal lawsuit stopping work on the expansion certainly doesn’t have the best interest of Fond du Lac County residents in mind. He says they may say their 1000 Friends of Wisconsin, but they’re not friends of Fond du Lac County. The County Board unanimously passed the advisory resolution. An accident on Highway 23 last Wednesday near Fond du Lac injured five people.
