FDL County Board Deals With Cost Overruns

The Fond du Lac County Board recently approved closing out overdrawn department budgets for 2016. That amounted to more than $676,000. About $469,000 of that was for Harbor Haven Health and Rehabilitation. County Executive Al Buechel says that’s a result of remodeling of the nursing home taking longer than expected and optimism over revenue being off the mark. He says now that everything is done they can normalize their population and fill all the beds they can, which will bring in more revenue. He says of the more than 90 cost centers they are responsible for in the County Budget only a dozen had cost over runs and some were only by a few dollars. He says some over runs are hard to anticipate for example in the court system, but over all last year was a good one for the County Budget.
