FDL County Couple Recognized For Century Old Farm

If tent walls could talk the stories would be plenty at West Allis Wisconsin on Tuesday morning at the 2014 Sesquicentennial and Century Farm Recognition Breakfast. The event, sponsored by Hillshire Farms added 136 landowners names to the already 8841 farms honored since the program started in 1948. Steve and Cheryl Wessing were one of the farms honored on Tuesday morning. Cheryl Wessing reported, ” her Great Grandfather purchased the land, near Byron, in 1913 from the Nightingale Family and it has been part of their family every since. The process is overwhelming and Wessing hopes their children will be able to receive the 150 year award when the time comes. Other Fond du Lac County properties that were recognized were Linda Scharrer & Robert Kimla, Eden; Karen A Michels, Fond du Lac; (also recognized with a Sesquicentennial Award) & Cynthia & Danny Pucker, Eldorado. The Wisconsin State Fair runs through Sunday August 10 at State Fair Park in West Allis.
