FDL County DA Grateful For Support For Additional Prosecutor Funding

Fond du Lac County’s District Attorney is grateful State Representative Jeremy Thiesfeldt of Fond du Lac and others are supporting proposed funding for additional Assistant District Attorney (ADA) positions. According to a Legislative Audit Bureau workload analysis there is a need for an additional 100 to 130 prosecutors across the state. Thiesfeldt is supporting an amendment to a Senate bill that would fund almost 54 additional ADA positions in 40 counties. “In that number Fond du Lac County would receive two of those prosecutors, which would take us from eight prosecutors to ten prosecutors and the numbers say we should probably have 11 or 12.” Fond du Lac County DA Eric Toney says they are grateful that the county is funding three of their current prosecutor positions. He says, “If we were to have these two additional positions it would be incredibly helpful for our office in getting to cases and getting them reviewed and charged sooner and being able to work with victims a little closer and just look for some better results on cases being able to spend more time on them.” Representative Thiesfeldt says Fond du Lac and other counties around the state have been statistically underserved for a number of years.
