FDL County Emergency Management Official Learns From Hurricane Response

The communications and emergency management director for Fond du Lac County is watching how emergency management officials have handled Hurricanes Harvey and Irma. Bobbi Hicken feels officials in Houston were very good at alerting the public about what they should expect. On the other hand she thinks people in Florida who didn’t heed the warning to evacuate prior to Hurricane Irma’s arrival they were putting others at risk. She says ultimately those residents are going to put responders at risk that may have to rescue them. She was also impressed how emergency management officials in Texas and Florida were able to keep their messages and instructions for the public on the same page. She will also be watching how they handle volunteers and donation management. (Fox News photo)
