FDL County Executive Glad To See State Fighting For Hwy 23 Expansion Project

Fond du Lac County Executive Al Buechel is pleased to see the state’s Department of Justice appealing a Federal judge’s decision that stopped funding for the Highway 23 expansion project. He says the state’s involvement is about more than just expanding a state highway between Fond du Lac and Plymouth to four lanes. He says the state fears if the lawsuit by 1000 Friends of Wisconsin prevails, it will lead to others. He says it’s about highway construction across the state of Wisconsin. He says the group feels the highway expansion isn’t “absolutely critical.” He says the County and those using the highway feel the project is “absolutely critical.” Buechel says the project at Highway 23 and County K to put in slotted left turn lanes is a result of the delay of the expansion project. He says with a possible delay of four or more years something had to be done.
