FDL County Finishes 37th In Health Rankings

Fond du Lac County finished in about the middle of the pack in the County Health Rankings put out by the UW Population Health Institute and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. It finished 37th out of the state’s 72 counties in Health Outcomes. Fond du Lac County Public Health Officer Kim Mueller says the County finished in the Top 20 in the Health Factors category. She says, “We did pretty good in our health factors we ranked 19th out of the 72 counties in our health factors and then in those health factors you have health behaviors.” Health Behaviors included things like adult smoking, adult obesity, physical inactivity, and excessive drinking. The County finished 30th in Health Behaviors, but 22nd in Clinical Care and 20th in Social and Economic Factors. Mueller says one area we need to work on is Quality of Life where we finished 56th. She says, “The piece where we probably failed the most would be our Quality of Life and that would be that perception of poor or fair health, how does somebody feel or poor physical health days or poor mental health days.” On the bright side the County finished 17th for the Length of Life.
