FDL County Health Department Looks At Targeted Vaccine Clinics

As supply of the COVID-19 vaccine outweighs the demand for it, the Fond du Lac County Health Department is one of many health departments that soon may be shifting their focus from mass vaccination clinics to smaller, targeted clinics to help people who want a shot, get a shot.

Fond du Lac County Public Health Officer Kim Mueller tells KFIZ News that might mean making the vaccine available at area festivals or farmers markets to make it convenient for people to get the vaccine.

“To reach people where, maybe they didn’t consider getting a vaccine because they didn’t want to take the time to make an appointment and go out. But, if we were right there, we have the vaccine available, and they were there and potentially they were interested then we would be there to provide them with a vaccine”

Mueller says that the health department is also going to be looking to target specific populations within the community to provide access to the vaccine to people who may have missed out on their chance to get a shot so far.
