FDL County Health Officer Has Recommendations For Long Weekend

Memorial Day weekend
typically means lots of parades, lots of parties, and lots of getting together
with family and friends. With all that has gone on the past few months, the
Fond du Lac County Health Department is asking residents to make sure you do
your part this weekend, to make sure we keep COVID-19 under wraps in the
community.

Although the “Safer At Home” order has been lifted, Fond du Lac County Health Officer Kim Mueller
reminds everyone the virus “is still circulating in the community and remains
highly infectious. We now know individuals can be contagious up to two days prior
to showing any symptoms. The virus is far from over, and we all need to do our
part to keep fighting the COVID-19 virus.” Mueller says everyone should follow
the recommendations of the CDC and WI DHS this weekend, and they include:

* Stay at home as much as
possible.

* Cancel/postpone all
nonessential travel

* Avoid gatherings of 10 or
more people

* Stay at least 6 feet away
from other people

Mueller also says it’s wise
to wear a cloth covering when you are out in public, while practicing social
distancing. Cloth face coverings are not a substitute for physical distancing,
washing hands, and staying home, but are helpful when combined with the other
key practices.
