Malone Man Killed In Hwy. 151 Crash

A two vehicle crash Thursday morning on Hwy. 151 has taken the life of a 68-year old Malone man. The Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Department was notified Thursday (1/21/21) just before 11:45 a.m. of a crash involving a pickup truck and a semi-tractor and trailer on USH 151 near Kiekhaefer Parkway in the Town of Taycheedah.  Initial information indicated that the operator of the pickup truck was pinned in the vehicle and unresponsive.

Initial investigation indicates that the pickup truck, operated by Gary J. Wojtalewicz of Malone, was northbound on Hwy. 151 and in the process of slowing or stopping to make a left turn into a residential driveway.  The northbound semi-tractor and trailer, operated by a 60-year-old Winnebago County man, struck the pickup truck from behind, forcing it off the roadway and striking a tree. Wojtalewicz was pronounced dead a short time later despite lifesaving attempts by medical personnel on scene.

Assisting the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office at the scene was Wisconsin State Patrol, Town of Calumet Fire Department, Mt. Calvary Ambulance, Theda Star Medical Helicopter, and the Fond du Lac County Highway Department.

The crash remains under investigation by the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office.
