FDL County Sheriff’s Department Locates Missing Male, Daughter

The Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office has located a missing male and his 4-month old daughter.

On Thursday, October 14, 2021, at 10:30pm a female, her adult male friend (Jordan Smack – 24 years old) and his 4 month old infant (Serenity) were in a vehicle involved in a minor crash into a ditch on Brown Rd. west of Townline Rd. in the town of Lamartine.

Jordan and his baby, who was removed from the vehicle and carried in a car seat, left the vehicle and walked into a marshy area and the female lost sight of them a short time later.  She was eventually able to get the vehicle out of the ditch and drove back home to the city of Fond du Lac.

After being unable to contact Jordan on his cell phone for several hours, she contacted the Sheriff’s Office at 2:30am Friday, October 15, 2021.  Deputies immediately responded to the crash scene and began searching the area.  They located the car seat, empty, in a wooded area north of the crash scene.

Emergency personnel including deputies, multiple fire departments, EMS, drones, and a State Patrol aircraft were used to search a large area north of Brown Rd. between Esterbrook Rd. and Nelson Rd.

In a press release issued late Friday morning, Fond du Lac County Sheriff Ryan Waldschmidt said “We are pleased to be able to report that Jordan and Serenity have been located safe at an address in the city of Fond du Lac.  Myself and Lamartine Fire Chief Joe Birschbach would like to extend sincere appreciation to the over 100 emergency personnel from multiple agencies who participated in the search for Jordan and Serenity, and want to thank all of the citizens who provided tips and information.  The circumstances surrounding the crash and what occurred after are being investigated ty the Sheriff’s Office.  No other information can be released at this time.”
