FDL County Sheriffs Dog Praised

Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s K9 Koda and his handler Deputy Justin Weisbecker were recently praised for their efforts in helping Fond du Lac Police locate an armed robbery suspect. The team was used after a woman was robbed in the Friar Tuck’s parking lot earlier this month. They picked up a track that led to the apartment complex where the suspect was living. Police didn’t arrest anyone that night, but continued their investigation, which led to a warrant, the recovery of some evidence and the arrest of a 29-year-old Fond du Lac man. Koda is also trained to do drug detection. He and Deputy Weisbecker have been working together since late spring. Sheriff’s Captain Ryan Waldschmidt says Koda did a great job that night and he has earned praised from other K9 handlers. Deputy Weisbecker and his 2-year-old German Shepherd went through training at a facility near Iron Ridge in May.
