FDL County Slips In County Health Rankings

Fond du Lac County slipped a few notches in the County Health Rankings for 2017. In the Health Outcomes category the County ranked 37th out of 72 counties in the state compared to 31st last year. County Public Health Officer Kim Mueller says the County did better in the Health Factors category improving from 16th last year to 14th this year. She says the study measures a lot of health behaviors including smoking, obesity, physical inactivity, teen birth, excessive drinking and more that can be changed. Mueller says you have to consider that the data is based on information that was gathered a couple years ago. She says while there is room for improvement many employers are promoting health improvement programs for their employees that are having a positive impact. The annual health rankings are compiled by the University of Wisconsin Population Health Institute and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. Ozaukee County was the healthiest county in the rankings and Menominee County the least.
