FDL Fire

(Update 8:44 a.m. 9/17/13): A person driving by is being credited for quickly calling 911 this morning to notify authorities about a fire at Manor Care Nursing Home at 265 South National Avenue. That led to a rapid response by Fond du Lac firefighters who discovered a rooftop heating, ventilating and air conditioning unit was on fire. Division Chief of Fire Prevention Troy Haase says the fire was contained to the unit and quickly extinguished. Staff at the nursing home moved patients to an unaffected section of the building. No injuries were reported. Light smoke was found in a computer room, but the blaze didn’t extend anywhere in the building. There was no smoke or water damage inside the building. No injuries were reported. The time of the fire call was 5:26 a.m.

Residents of the Manor Care nursing home in Fond du Lac had to be evacuated this morning for a fire. Division Chief of Fire Prevention Troy Haaze says the call came in around 5:30 this morning. He says a fire was reported on the roof in the rear of the building, an air conditioning unit up on top of the roof. He says no one was injured and the fire is under control. But firefighters remained on the scene to make sure the fire didn’t extend anywhere else. Manor Care is located at the corner of 4th and National Avenue.
